The Relationship between the Patient-Physician Relationship and Patient Online Community Use in Women with Endometriosis

About.

From April 15 to August 31, 2017, data were collected from 1391 patients with self-reported endometriosis, 72% (n = 997) of whom completed the anonymous, online survey. Data were collected on demographic information; endometriosis-related information; pain; fatigue; self-rated health; healthcare-related information such as misdiagnosis, current provider type, satisfaction with current provider; trust in current provider; trust in providers generally; anxiety and depression; perceived health competency; health locus of control; social support; and patient online community-related information. This project also constructed a self-report measure of therapeutic affordances of patient online communities. At the end of the survey, participants were given the option to share additional information about their experiences with endometriosis.
